Context of Avril

Founded in 1983, Avril is the leading industrial and financial player in the vegetable oil and protein sector. Its main brands include Lesieur, Puget and Isio 4. Now present in 19 countries, the group continues to grow and today employs more than 8,300 people at 69 industrial sites around the world (including 51 in France).

At the beginning of 2023, the group took possession of its refurbished premises in the heart of Paris, on the outskirts of the Parc Monceau. However, this site, which can accommodate 500 employees, only has 70 parking spaces. The group already used Sharvy at its previous premises. The parking experience there was very satisfactory, and employees were now used to this parking reservation system. For this reason, Avril quickly decided to install Sharvy at its new premises.

Setting up of Sharvy

Once the decision had been taken to install Sharvy on the Monceau site, a project team was set up. The General Services Manager worked in close collaboration with the Sharvy Support team to ensure the smooth transfer of data between the 2 sites. They also ensured that the settings were optimised and adapted to the specific requirements of the new premises.

In just two weeks, Sharvy was configured and deployed in the Avril car park, which has 50 car spaces (including 4 for the vehicle fleet, which are not included in Sharvy), 19 motorbike spaces and 40 cycle spaces.

To encourage the sharing of parking spaces between all employees, there are no tenured spaces. So whether they have been managers for several years or employees for a few days, all staff are on an equal footing! When they need a parking space, users can make their request in just a few clicks on the Sharvy application. The fairness algorithm then automatically allocates the available spaces according to defined priority rules and reservation history. In fact, fairness is an important point for the group: the Sharvy algorithm is not based on the “first in, first out” rule, but favours employees who have used the car park the least often, as well as employees affiliated to the Monceau site, rather than service providers or employees of other group sites.

What’s more, to facilitate entry to the car park and secure access, Sharvy has connected itself to the number plate recognition camera. This means that only people with a reservation on the day can access the car park. In practical terms, the camera recognises the vehicle’s number plate. If it is associated with a reservation in Sharvy, then the gate will open automatically. However, if the vehicle has no reservation, the gate will remain closed. For even greater security, Sharvy sends the list of authorised vehicles to the Security HQ and the Head of General Services on a daily basis.

Sharvy is a time-saver for Avril’s General Services team, Security HQ and receptionists, who used to manage parking requirements manually. Once set up, the application automatically manages the car park and allocates spaces. From now on, there is no longer any need for human intervention at this level, which could have been very time-consuming in the past.

The statistics in Sharvy have enabled the group to better manage the car park and vehicle flows. In fact, thanks to the data, the General Services team was able to analyse the use of spaces more accurately and simply. So, seeing that more and more employees were coming by motorbike, new spaces could be dedicated to this mode of transport in order to satisfy demand.

Since the introduction of Sharvy and the sharing of spaces, the car park has never been saturated. In other words, the use of spaces has been fully optimised. User satisfaction is also high, as none of their reservation requests has so far been refused. Feedback from staff has been very good.
